Lenore “Nonie” (Reando) Armstrong, 91, longtime Worcester resident passed away peacefully Saturday, December 19th 2015 after a short period of declining health. Lenore was born in Biddeford, Maine, a daughter of Stephen H. and Cecelia (Tierney) Reando. She moved to Worcester as an infant, grew up here, graduated from North High School and earned her college degree from Vesper George College in Boston. Lenore then began her employed years with the former Miller Furniture Company, later excepting a position in the administration office of Smith Valve Corporation for 17 years before retiring in 1977. Lenore’s husband Thomas “Tim” Armstrong passed away in 1981. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. A brother, Stephen H. Reando, Jr. and sister, Dolores R. Miller both pre deceased her. Nonie was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends, crossword puzzles and reading. She truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important and had room in her heart for everyone she met. Nonie was very generous with her heart, her love, her time and resources, and helped anyone she could. Lenore will live on with everyone she met. Calling hours for Lenore will be held Tuesday, January 5th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, January 6th from the funeral home with a procession to St. Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road Shrewsbury where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial next to her husband will follow in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St Anne’s Church Human services, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury. Lenore’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Vibra Healthcare and rehabilitation Hospital in Leicester for the care comfort and care they gave to Nonie during a difficult time.
