Anna “Grammy” M. (Porcaro) Frascolla, 76, of Worcester, MA passed away Sunday morning, December 27th surrounded by her family after a sudden illness. Anna was born in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Assunta (Litrenta) and Antonio Porcaro. Anna was one of twelve children. Anna grew up in Worcester and was educated within the Worcester school system. Anna was married to the late John Frascolla for 29 years. Anna enjoyed many work opportunities including hair dressing, St. Peter Marian cafeteria, Lederman’s Bakery, Gerardo’s Bakery, and in recent years until retirement, working for the late Dr. Mario Moretti. Anna most enjoyed her time with her family, her daily stops to the 711 to try her luck at a “Bingo” ticket, and her beloved Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. Anna was independent, kind, and enjoyed making other people happy, whether it was preparing food for her children and grandchildren, or surprising people with a thoughtful gift. She touched the lives of all of those around her and she will dearly be missed by everyone that was lucky enough to know her. She leaves behind her two sons, John Frascolla, Jr. and his wife Lisa and Joseph Frascolla and his wife Kerstin all of Auburn; her daughter, Tina Lyons and her husband Robert X. Lyons, Jr. of Worcester; her two beloved grandsons, Robert and Matthew Lyons, both of Worcester; a brother, Alfred “Fred” Porcaro; four sisters, Margaret “Nanny” Ferraro and her husband Anthony, Dorothy “Dotty” Godin-Kowalski, Elizabeth “Betty-Ann” Fortin, Barbara Blanding and her husband Edmund, her sister-in-law Rose Porcaro; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by four brothers, James, Gerald, Rocco and Arthur Porcaro; two sisters, Rose Sciascia-Walsh and Lena Dupre. The Frascolla family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the UMass Medical Center Lakeside CCU3 & ER staff for their care and compassion during her brief stay. Services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St, Worcester. Burial will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 30th, from 4-7pm in the funeral home.
