Miriam (Solomon) Leavitt, 94, of Northborough passed away peacefully with family gathered by her bedside, Saturday, December 26th 2015. Miriam was born in Boston, one of three children of Morris and Bessie Solomon. She grew up, lived and worked as an Office Assistant for Optometrist Doctor Simons in Boston until starting a family. She loved volunteer work, especially the American Cancer Society or just playing cards. Miriam’s husband Joseph Leavitt passed away in 2006. She is survived by her two children, Phillip E. Leavitt of Shrewsbury, Marsha Crum and her husband David of Wallingford PA; two grandchildren she dearly loved, Anna and Benjamin Leavitt; Nieces, nephews and extended family members. A brother, Allen Solomon and sister, Leah Raitman both pre deceased her. She was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends, family dinners, talks over coffee with family or dear friends. Her unwavering faith in family kept her grounded and helped her through life's challenges. Miriam’s passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul and special memories will not be forgotten.Funeral services for Miriam and burial in Moses Mendelson Cemetery in West Roxbury will be held privately. The family will sit Shiva from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm Thursday, December 31st at Temple B’nai Shalom, 117 East Main Street, Westborough Ma.
