Worcester - Lucy M. ( Colicchio) Marzilli, 93 of Worcester died peacefully Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the St. Francis Home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 55 years, Salvatore Marzilli died in 2002. Lucy is survived by her devoted children; John F. Marzilli and his wife Katherine of Worcester, Veronica Howley and her husband Kevin of Boylston, and Marion Catacchio and her husband Michael of Worcester. Lucy was the loving grandmother to Marissa and Maria Marzilli, Matthew and Kristina Catacchio and her husband Patrick Flanigan of Worcester and Jonathan Howley of Boylston, also many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother Nicholas Colicchio.Lucy was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Donato and Concetta (Cianfaglione) Colicchio and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Lucy went on to Hairdressing and Cosmetology school where she then taught for several years. She was proud to say she taught the hair stylist, Rob Roy. Lucy then worked for her family's business "Connie's Fish and Chips' on West Boylston St, which was founded by her mother and brother for over forty years. Throughout the years, many customers became life long friends. Walter "Chickie" Antul was one of those customers, who actually became like a son to Lucy. Her nurse, JoAnne, was also a special customer.Never one to be idle, Lucy took classes in floral design. She went on to exhibit in shows and custom designs. Again, she met many friends along the way. Family and friends were recipients of her beautiful designs. Lucy continued this passion well into her 90s.Lucy was a life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann and was always ready to help with the Church activities. When not traveling with Sal, Lucy had many interests, among them, antiquing, reading, knitting and cooking. She loved to tell everyone how she made various meals and would also give them her delicious recipes. However her most treasured times were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren whom she adored. Our lives will never be the same without her, but her loving ways will be carried on by her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Ralph Sama and his staff, who over the years gave her compassionate care. Also, a special thank you to the nurses and care givers at the St. Francis Home who took care of her and her family during this difficult time. Lucy's funeral will be held on Tuesday December 29 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:30AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann, 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held from 9AM to 11:00AM only before departing for Church. Interment will be with her beloved husband in St. Johns Cemetery.
