Shepley, P. “Chet” LaPan, 84 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at the Golden Living Center surrounded by his loving family. Chet is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen M. (Flagg) LaPan; his son, Kenneth P. LaPan and his wife Cindy of Worcester; four sisters, Margaret Lucci, Evelyn Mullane of Hudson, Carlene Gannon of Worcester and Helen Luccia of Boylston; two grandchildren, Timothy LaPan and Joshua LaPan and his wife Jenna; two great grandchildren, Avery and Dylan LaPan; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four brothers, Louis, Francis, Raymond and Richard LaPan; two sisters, Fannie Lemay and Jacqueline Pasquale. Chet was born in Berlin, MA., a son of the late Jacob and Hazel (Gosslett) LaPan. He moved to Worcester at a young age and later moved to West Boylston where he lived for 40 years. He served his country proudly during the Korean War in the United States Army. Chet was a truck driver for AVCOA Transport in Northborough for 14 years, retiring in 2007. He previously worked Meola’s Milk for 15 years and Winter Hill Frozen Foods. Chet was a member of Burncoat Baptist Church, American Legion Post 204 and VFW Lodge 2909 both in West Boylston and the DAV Post 4. In his spare time, Chet enjoyed gardening. Chet’s family would like to thank the staff at the Golden Living Center for the outstanding care and compassion given to Chet during his time with them. Chet’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at 11 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, West Boylston. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home prior to his funeral service.
