Nicholas J. Verdolino, Jr., 75, of Worcester, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family members, on Friday, December 18, 2015, from complications due to Cancer Treatment. Nick is survived by his wife, Frances P. (Pellegrino) Verdolino; his sister, Ann Marie Verdolino of Worcester; two nephews, Santino Pellegrino of Worcester, and Peter Michaelian of Leicester; many cousins and friends. Nick was born in Worcester, son of the late, Nicholas J. and Julia A. (Masiello) Verdolino, and has lived here all his life. Nick graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade School, and later served his nation proudly, during the Vietnam Era, in the United States Army. Nick retired from UMass, having previously worked for many years, as an assembler for General Motors Corporation at their Framingham assembly plant. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Parish. He belonged to sportsmen’s clubs in Grafton, Auburn, and Leominster. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and teaching others the art of shooting. Nick loved the outdoors but found great joy in the special times spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Calling Hours for Nick will be held on Tuesday, December 22, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, from the funeral home, with a procession departing at 9:40 a.m., arriving for at 10 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment with Military Honors, will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
