Gregorio Travaglio, 65 of Worcester a true friend and honorable Italian passed away Wednesday, December 9th 2015 with the ones he loved by his side. Gregorio was born in Vieste, province of Foggia Italy one of three sons of Giovanni and Maria (Falcone) Travaglio. He grew up and graduated from the JFK College in Foggia Italy. At the age of 17, Greg immigrated to the United States and furthered his education in the US at Central New England College. In 1972, Greg married Tomasina Lonardo in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church; Together moved into a house on Grafton Hill, where he raised his family for the next 43 years with Love, honor, tradition and family. Greg’s life was simple: it revolved around his family, his friends and the care of his home. The family restaurant “Pepes” which was established in 2009 became a Greg’s central gathering place for family and friends throughout the years. True to his Italian heritage, holidays and celebrations in Greg’s home were like most Italian traditions: rich in food, family and laughter. Greg was both a citizen of the United States and a citizen of Italy. He still maintained his childhood home is Vieste and traveled there as many times as he could, spending his days on the veranda with beautiful gazes of the Adriatic Sea. He found peace, relaxation and comfort in the place he grew up in. Greg had an uncanny knack for bringing a smile to all those he touched with his warm sarcastic sense of humor. He led a disciplined life with a strong work ethic and strong faith attending his church Our Lady of Mt Carmel regularly. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel church, assisting its many functions and the Italian community activities as a whole. His legacy and love will be remembered and live on in everyone’s memories. Greg founded and served as president of Alliance Equipment Company in Sterling operating the business until he sold the company in 1995. Greg then worked several years for the University of Massachusetts Medical School Caitlin Raymond International Registry as Program Coordinator. He later established in 2009 along with his wife and children “Pepe’s” named after his grandson Patrick where it has become a fixture in the Franklin Street neighborhood. Gregorio is survived by his devoted wife and “Love of his Life” Tomasina (Lonardo) Travaglio; his two children, Teresa Travaglio-Romeo and her husband Luigi, John Travaglio and his fiancée Colleen Kalagher; his two brothers, Matteo Travaglio, Michael Travaglio and his wife Rosanna; six grandchildren he found the greatest joy with, twins Michael and Federica, Patrick “Pepe”, Nicola, Luigi and Ella; his cousins Esther and Carmine Lonardo; nieces and cousins, extended family members and many friends including his best friends in Italy, Salvatore Azzarone and Lucia Uva; A sister in law, Antonia Travaglio pre deceased him. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family during calling hours, Monday, December 14th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held tuesday morning December 15th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. where his cousin Rev. Frederick Lonardo and Msgr Stephen Pedone will celebrate his Mass at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
