Angelina M. “Angie” (DeToma) Giorgio, 90 of Worcester passed away peacefully Saturday December 5th 2015 surrounded by her devoted family. Angie was born June 10th 1925, in Worcester, one of four children of Cesare and Marianne (Patruno) DeToma. She attended Commerce high school , married the love of her life, James Giorgio and together settled in the family home off Shrewsbury Street to raise their four daughters and have made that the center of family ever since. Angie worked many years for the Sheppard Envelope Company for over 30 years before retiring in 2002. Angie’s husband Jimmy passed away on November 14, 1986: She is survived by her four daughters, Joanne Prunier of Auburn, Dolores R. Carey and her husband Michael of Worcester, Maureen A. Cowden and her husband Paul of Oxford, Angela R. Simone and her husband Joseph with whom she lived; seven grandchildren Eric, Brian and Corey Prunier, Paige Retallic and Jessica Cowden, Joseph and Jamie Simone; Ten great grandchildren; Two nieces she considered sisters, Mary Carelli and Marianne “Bridgie” Ward; Many other nieces, nephews, extended family and very close friends. Besides her husband Jimmy, Angie was pre deceased by her son in law, Paul Prunier, grandson Justin James, two brothers, Louis and John DeToma and two sisters, Anna Tristano and Jennie DiBenedetto. Angie a traditional Italian mother of Biscegliese decent believed that her husband, her children and grandchildren were always the most important. No one who entered her house ever left without having something to eat or delicious Italian delicacies to take home. Her cookies, taralles and baked goods were not to be surpassed. Holidays, especially the traditional Christmas Eve of the seven fishes, birthdays, special occasions, Friday and Saturday night’s playing cards were very special to her family and friends. She was the backbone of the family and remained devoted to them especially her beautiful grandchildren, who fondly called her “Gram” or "Nonnie" Angie, truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important things in life and had room in her heart for everyone she met. She was very generous with her love and time. Angie was an active member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, its golden years, Christian mothers, and Our Lady of Sorrows. She enjoyed the Cape in the summers and the trips to the casinos. Angie was a past member of the Maria SS Addolorata Society, and the Eastside Post 201 Ladies Auxiliary. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts but her loving and caring soul will not be forgotten. Angie's family would like to thank all of the wonderful, caring people at VNA Hospice Care for their time, love, and compassion to Angie and her family. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, December 10th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Friday from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann 24 Mulberry Street Worcester, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated by Msgr Stephen Pedone at 10:00 am. Burial next to her husband Jimmy will follow in St John Cemetery.
