Nancy Ekross, 74, of Worcester died peacefully in her sleep while vacationing in Italy. Her husband, Donald Ekross, predeceased her in October 2012. She leaves her daughter Amy (Ekross) Quigley and her husband Brad of Belmont; several cousins and many friends. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Paul and Josephine (Hopkins) Palmer, a descendant of the Mayflower family. She was a graduate of Worcester City Nursing School and Assumption College. Nancy was a Registered Nurse for over 20 years and for the last seven years had worked part-time at Green Hill Golf Course. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed needle pointing, and spending time with friends and her daughter and son-in-law. She served as the co-President of the American Needlepoint Guild, MA Chapter and as past president of the Embroiders Guild of America’s-Central MA chapter. She was a tireless supporter for Simin Lab Breast Cancer Research, and helped to raise thousands of dollars in support over the years. Memorial Calling Hours for Nancy will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015, from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester; a Prayer Service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held privately with the family at St. John’s Cemetery.
