John Hagopian, Jr. 56 of West Brookfield, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 21st 2015 after being stricken ill. John was born in Methuen, a son of the late John Sarkis Hagopian, Sr. and Lala (Hagopian) Hagopian. He grew in Worcester after moving here as a young child, met and in 1982 married Margaret (Dersain) Hagopian. In 1984, they moved to West Brookfield to raise their family in Love and devotion for the next 31 years. John worked as a service manager for Various Automobile dealers in the Western Massachusetts Area before retiring. He is survived by his wife Margaret; his two sons, Garabed P. Hagopian of Medford, Hagop P. Hagopian and his wife Chelsea of North Brookfield; his two sisters, Cindy Wallace and Araxe Hagopian both in Salem, NH; his father-in-law, Paul Dersain of Auburn, whom John considered his second father; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; his grand dog, Sherwood. On July 17, 2014, John lost his son, John Sarkis Hagopian II. John was a member of the Armenian Church of Our Savior. He grew up in Methuen, was a hockey player in high school and enjoyed watching New England Sports teams especially the Boston Bruins. When his sons were young, John coached numerous sports teams in Central Mass, as well as serving on the PTA and volunteering for anything to help anyone. John was a beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family and friends, family dinners, laughing, and fishing. John truly believed that faith, family and friends were the most important and he had room in his heart for everyone he met. He was very generous with his love, time and resources, and helped anyone he could. The funeral will be held Wednesday, November 25th from the funeral home with a Service at 10:30 am at the Armenian Church of Our Savior, 87 Salisbury St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, November 24th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A Dahnhak service will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home.
