Michael Chenevert, 56, longtime Auburn resident passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 11, 2015. He leaves his wife of 38 years, Patricia (Flury) Chenevert; his daughter, Theresa Mackin and her partner, Tim Paquette; his son, Captain Michael P. Chenevert, Jr., U.S. Army; his two grandchildren, Caleb and Mackenzie Mackin; his brother, Walter Chenevert; and his two sisters, Denage Braga and Alice Baxter; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Theresa (Lloyd) Chenevert, and his brother, Raymond Chenevert, Jr. One of five children, Michael was born in Holden and raised his family in North Grafton before he and his wife moved to Auburn, where they lived for more than 16 years. Michael joined the U.S. Army and served in the Massachusetts Army Reserve. He worked at Washington Mills for a number of years before finding his calling as a Residential Remodeling Estimator at Francis Harvey and Sons, Inc. Michael was dedicated to his family, especially his children and grandchildren, and spent many years coaching his children's youth sports teams. As a longtime member of the Lakers Youth Hockey Organization, he was a well-respected, much loved and admired colleague, friend and mentor to the dozens of kids and families who knew him as "Coach." In addition to coaching hockey, he also enjoyed the sport as a player for many years. Michael took great pride in his vegetable garden and loved the outdoors, whether he was sitting in his own backyard or relaxing at the beach. But he felt most at home when he was on the ocean and his truest passion was deep sea fishing. Michael's favorite role was that of grandfather to his two grandchildren, who will forever love and remember him as "Papa." He will be missed. Funeral services and burial were private. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Salvation Army Adult Rehab at 72 Cambridge St, Worcester, Massachusetts. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., is honored to have assisted the family with arrangements.
