Charlotte Martha (Wilson) Carlton, 88, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 9, 2015. Charlotte was born in Worcester on March 1, 1927 to the late Leslie Martinus and Lena (Jackson) Wilson and was the great-granddaughter of Bethany Veney. Charlotte was married to the love of her life, the late James Robert Carlton until his passing in 1973. Charlotte worked for many years as an Executive Secretary for the Worcester Public School System and then the Worcester City Government until she retired. Charlotte worked in churches her entire life in multiple capacities and was an outstanding writer, as well as a great woman of faith, service, and integrity. Charlotte leaves her daughters, Harriet Iris Carlton-James (husband Thomas) of Durham, NC and Eden Fisher Carlton of Brookhaven, PA. Her grandchildren, Blake J. Hampton II(wife Shanea) of Durham, NC, Harriet Mariama L Coates IVof Alhambra, CA, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Charlotte was pre-deceased by her brothers Leslie and John Wilson, and her sister Bernice Smith, and leaves her living siblings, Laura Pearson, Oliver Wilson, Paula Fisher and Marilyn Ward all of Worcester, MA, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Services will be on Monday, November 16, MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with Calling Hours from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, followed by her Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Interment beside her husband will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
