James P. Gerardi, 85, of Worcester died peacefully at home Thursday November 12, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Margaret (Arell) Gerardi, his loving children; James P Gerardi Jr. and his girlfriend Deborah Capuano, Donna J. Lamontagne and her husband Paul, Paula A. Gerardi, Peggy A. DiCicco and her husband John, and Tracy J. Cozzolino and her husband Mark all of Worceter. James is also survived by a brother William Gerardi of Shrewsbury, and loving grandchildren Andrea, Gina, James lll, Amanda, Nicholas, Anthony, and Zachary. He also leaves his great grandchildren David Jr. Ava, and Anthony Jr. Many nephews and nieces. James was predeceased by four brothers; Frank, Charles, John, and Patsy Gerardi, and a sister Philomena Damato. James was born in Worcester son of the late Peter and Mary (Gabriella) Gerardi and has lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Commerce High School. Jimmy served his country proudly in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was the Manager in the Shipping Department at the Davis Printing company for over 45 years before he retired. James was a long time member of the Church of Our Lady of Loreto. He enjoyed the printing business and had a little press in his basement that he tinkered with. James loved working in his garden and loved a good day at the Race Track. However his most precious times were those he spent with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. Jimmy had a great personality always smiling and friendly to everyone. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at St. Vincent Hospital, and the Nurses and staff of the Beacon Hospice for all their kindness and compassion shown to James and his family during this difficult time. It is greatly appreciated. James' funeral will be held on Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Loreto 37 Massasoit Rd. Calling hours will be held on Sunday(today) from 3PM to 6PM in the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery.
