Domenico A. "Mimi" Leardi, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 in The Christopher House of Worcester, surrounded by his loving family. Domenico is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Jean M. (Corazzini) Leardi; three sons, George E. "Gigi" Leardi and his wife Jayne, and Joseph A. Leardi, all of Worcester, and Casto D. Leardi in Maine; three daughters, Cheryl Alano and her husband Leigh, Kathleen "Kate" Leardi, and Bonnie Leardi all of Worcester; a sister, Marie Urella of Worcester; eight grandchildren, Domenico Leardi, Robert Leardi, Michael Leardi, Richard Keller, Jr., Jamie Alano, Kristy Orcutt, Nicole Manning, and Antonio J. Leardi; ten great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Keith Alano in 1996. Domenico was born in Worcester, son of the late, Casto and Angelina (Monopoli) Leardi, and has lived here all his life. Domenico started learning the trade of tailoring from his father, when he was just seven years old. His keen learning ability and eye for fashion and design moved him to work with his father for many years eventually going to New York City to study clothing design. His life here would pause for only a short time while he proudly served his nation in the United States Navy, Sea Bees, during World War II. Upon his return from serving in the Navy, Domenico and his father founded Paris Dry Cleaners and Tailor Shop in Worcester; he loved his work and for thirty five years, leading up to his retirement in 1985, he found satisfaction in helping his customers and friends with tailoring or sewing projects, from mending a suit to making curtains. He was a member of Saint Stephen's Church, the Dry Cleaners Association and was one of the initial founding members of East Side Post 201. He always had a positive "Can Do" attitude, and was affectionately called "Mr. Fix-It", because he was a constant tinkerer. His first love was for music and dancing. He also loved his wife and family and shared a passion for food, and home cooked meals; in other words he enjoyed the simple things in life that you find in your home or on the front porch, sharing times with loving family. Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, is honored to be assisting the Leardi family.
