Josephine (Diurno-Days) DiTerlizzi, 94, formerly of Main Circle in Shrewsbury, died Tuesday November 3, 2015, in Kennebunk, Maine in hospice care at Huntington Common where she had recently moved to be near her grandchildren. Born in Shrewsbury, she was the daughter of Patsy and Raffela (D'Apice) Days. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School. She was Assistant Manager of Casual Corner for over 30 years at their downtown Worcester locations prior to her retirement in 1984. She was member of St. Mary's in Shrewsbury. She was an active member of the Frohsinn Club in Shrewsbury. Josephine and her husband Michael lived their entire lives in Shrewsbury. They enjoyed summers in Wells, Maine with her daughter, Beverly and her family. Josephine was one of the unsung heroes World War II as she waited patiently at home while her husband served his country as part of the Normandy invasion. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 50 years, Michael Diterlizzi and her only child, Beverly Anne Kirn of Rumford, Maine. Also, predeceased by two brothers Michael Deurno and Anthony Deurno; three sisters, Mary Rano, Lillian Carriere and Annie Basilissa. She is survived by her son-in-law, Dr. Bruce Kirn of Bonita Springs, FL; a grandson Dr. William Todd Kirn of Kennebunk, Maine and his wife Jennifer; a granddaughter Heidi Kirn McMahon and her husband Neil McMahon. Five great-grandchildren: Lily and Charlie McMahon; and Virginia, Gavin, and Trevor Kirn. Also, surviving are nieces Lois Basilica of Shrewsbury, Patricia Marsten of Worcester, and Joyce Hoye of Thompson, CT. as well as their families. Josephine's family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care of Northborough, Whitney Place Assisted Living of Northborough, Huntington Common Assisted Living of Kennebunk, VNA Home Health Hospice and Richard Orino, MD of Shrewsbury for their kind and compassionate care. Her Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 7, at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
