Brian "Mac" McLaughlin, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly Sunday, November 1st 2015. He was 53 years of age. Brian was born in Worcester on January 31, 1962, one of five children of George E. McLaughlin Jr, and Helen K. (Pianowski) McLaughlin. He graduated from St Mary's High School where he was a standout Baseball pitcher, earning All-State honors and a scholarship to St. Leo's University in Florida. He was drafted, left college to pursue an offer to play baseball for the Pittsburg Pirates minor league system for several years. He sustained an injury and retired returning to Worcester where, he attended Becker College sports administration program. He has lived here all his life. Brian worked all his life, mostly in the corrections field for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as a Corrections officer for the Worcester County Sheriff's department, and as a K9 Correctional officer for MCI Gardner. He was also a Police Officer for the University of Massachusetts Medical Center and the State department of Mental Health, working over 14 years in Law enforcement. His last employment was as an assistant Director for the Alcohol and Recovery program for the Opening Heavens Door Ministry. Brian was a certified K9 handler, N.E.A.D.S puppy training handler, and police, corrections and K9 academies graduate. Brian is survived by his wife, Donna M. (Bandilla) McLaughlin; his two sons, Brian and Alec Larange; his step children, Briana LaViolette and Matthew Bertone; his mother, Helen (Pianowski) McLaughlin; all of Worcester. He also leaves four siblings, Elaine Rochefort and her husband Dennis, Kevin R. McLaughlin and his wife Sharon, Nancy E. Bianchini and her husband Alan, and Neil P. McLaughlin; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Brian was a very generous person with his love, time and resources. He helped anyone who asked. He directed his life through all the challenges being unwavering in his faith, that helped keep him grounded and helped him through his life's paths. His passing leaves a hole in his family's hearts, but his memories and spirit will never be forgotten. Funeral services for Brian will be held Saturday, November 7th at 1 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME and CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will be private. A period of calling hours will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in Brian's name can be made to the N.E.A.D.S. program, P.O.
