Craig Steven Safford, 55, of Northbridge, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the V.A. Boston Healthcare in West Roxbury. Craig is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Brenda K. (Rhone) Safford; two sons, Kenny Safford of Webster and Christopher Safford and his wife Shanazz of Clinton; his mother, Willie Faye Safford of North Carolina; two brothers, Ernest Safford and his wife Beatrice of Olympia, Washington, Christopher Safford of North Carolina; a sister, Renee Safford-White of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Craig was born in Elba, Alabama, son of the late Ulysses Hill; his family moved to Worcester when he was an infant, and he had lived in Worcester for most of his life, before moving to Northbridge last year. He graduated from Holy Name High School and attended Worcester State University. Craig served his nation proudly in the United States Army as a K-9 Specialist in the Military Police, retiring in 1988. He was an avid and creative writer and photographer; who loved his family and spending quality time with them. A Memorial Service for Craig will be held on Wednesday, November 4, at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. until the service begins at 11 a.m.
