Ann Marie Chachi, 63 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the Lutheran Home surrounded by her family. Ann Marie is survived by her brother, Thomas Chachi and his wife Darlene of Oxford; her sister, Diane Bourisk and her husband George; her nephew Michael Bourisk; her niece and godchild, Sarah Bourisk all of Grafton; two aunts, Lillian Chachi with whom she lived and Florence Gachi of Bridgeport, CT; many cousins and friends. Ann Marie was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Gregory and Victoria (Lupu) Chachi and has lived here all her life. She graduated from North High School Class of 1970 and later received her Bachelors of Arts degree in education from Worcester State College, Class of 1998. Ann Marie worked as the head librarian at the Worcester Public Library in Great Brook Valley for 30 years, retiring in 2009. During her years at the library, she took care of children and organized many different programs for them. She previously worked as a counselor for the Worcester House of Corrections for several years. Ann Marie was also a certified teacher and certified phlebotomist. She was a member of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Shrewsbury. Some of Ann Marie's enjoyments were gardening, reading, loved watching movies, and music. Her greatest love was her family and the wonderful times she spent with them. Ann Marie's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester and again on Wednesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in church prior to the service. A Trisagion service will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 20th at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
