Roger E Lizotte

Roger E. Lizotte, of Shrewsbury, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015 with the family he cherished gathered by his side, after a brief illness. He was 84 years of age. Roger was born in Southbridge, MA on December 15, 1930, the son of Oliva and Irene (Julian) Lizotte. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Paldino) Lizotte; his three children, Janet Lizotte with whom he lived, Ronald Lizotte and his wife Mary Jo of Franklin, MA, Michelle Picard and her husband Russell of Upton; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Roger also leaves, his four brothers, Roland Lizotte of Sterling, Normand Lizotte in Denver, Richard Lizotte in Nevada, and Robert Lizotte in Florida; a sister, Theresa Porcaro of Worcester; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Roger was pre deceased by a sister Doris Phillips. Roger lived in Worcester until 1968, when he moved his family to Mendon where they lived for over 40 years. Active in his church and town, Roger was a member of the Mendon-Upton School Committee for many years and a member of the Mendon Lions Club and Brothers of the Brush. He was a fourth degree member of the Bishop O'Reilly Assembly and the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus in Worcester. Roger was also a disabled veteran after serving his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Roger owned and operated Geno's Donut and Pizza Shop in Milford, Bellingham, Mansfield, Franklin and Foxboro. In 1974, he founded American Office Products in Milford and served as its president until retirement. Some of his activities and hobbies included bowling, boating, horses, and playing cards with friends, and watching western movies on television. Roger also enjoyed his summers on the Cape with family, his many hours on his boat fishing and cruising, and his winters in Deerfield Beach Florida where he resided for 16 years, serving as condo association president of Riverton Manor. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, October 12th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Tuesday, October 13th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Where his Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
