Esperanza Iris Santiago, 72, of Worcester, a die-hard New York Yankees fan, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. Esperanza is survived by her two sons, Raul DeJesus, Jr., and his wife Nancy of Worcester, and Mickey DeJesus of Charlton; a daughter, Yolanda DeJesus of Worcester; a brother, Victor Cruz of Bronx, New York; two sisters, Matilda Torres and Aida Torres, both of Worcester; five grandchildren, Raymond Santiago, Robet Irizarry, Christopher Ginett, Allison DeJesus, and Jovani DeJesus; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends. She was born in Catao, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Juan Torres and Ramona Ortiz. She moved with her family from Puerto Rico to The Bronx in 1950, when she was just eight years old, it was there that the Yankees got into her blood and remained until her death. She later moved to Worcester in 1980. She loved her family and was a constant Yankee fan. She also loved the Dallas Cowboys. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Her philosophy on life was expressed perfectly by her ideal movie star, Cary Grant"My formula for living is quite simple, I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night.
