Wahid M. Bitar, 87 year old full of life, devoted husband, father and grandfather, fell asleep to the Lord, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 with the family he loved so much gathered by his bedside from complications of a surgical procedure. Wahid was born July 1st 1928, in Akar, Lebanon, one of seven children of Mtanious and Miriam (Danoui) Bitar. He then grew up, married his wife and love Emeline (Ayoub) Bitar. For the next 59 years while Wahid served the Lebanese people as a Warrant officer in the Army from 1948 to 1982, Wahid and Emeline raised their family and as his children, grew up they immigrated to the United States settling in the Worcester Area. After Wahid retired in 1982, Wahid and Emeline continued to live in Lebanon until immigrating to the U.S. in 1987, to be close to their children, grandchildren and extended family members. Except for the occasional vacation trip back to Lebanon to visit family they have lived here over 28 years. . Wahid is survived by his wife, Emeline (Ayoub) Bitar; his seven devoted children, Antoinette Bitar, Antoine Bitar and his wife Ghada, Marie Rawady and her husband Pierre, Pierre Bitar and his wife Lori, Elizabeth Nassar and her husband Dr. Sami Nassar, Joseph Bitar and his wife Christine and Milad Bitar and his wife Jackie. He also is survived by two brothers, Milad and Farraj Bitar and two sisters, Badra Ayoub and Sara Wehbe; 18 grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends both in the U.S. and in Lebanon also mourn his loss. Family members that have fallen asleep in the lord before him include his parents, and Brothers, Alias and Mikhail. Wahid was a devoted family man, his wife; children and grandchildren were his life. Spending the holidays, and special occasions or just being in their company are the treasured moments he cherished. He was a great cook, with a wonderful sense of humor, wisdom and a huge smile. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him. He was a member of St George Orthodox Cathedral. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects, Friday, September 18th 2015 from 5 pm to 8 pm in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna Street. His funeral service will be held Saturday, September 19th at 9:00 am, Fr Milad Selim will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
