Richard Andrew Magner, Sr., 59, of Paxton, formerly of Sutton, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015. Richard is survived by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Robin C. (Tricomi) Magner; a son, Richard A. "Ricky" Magner, Jr. of Sutton; two daughters, Melissa A. "Missy" Walsh and her husband Brenden of Sutton, and Michelle A. "Shelly" Magner of Springfield; his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" (Blondin) Kotzen and her husband Marshall of Millbury; three grandchildren, twins Cassandra and Alexandria Callahan, and Liam Walsh; two brothers, Robert Magner of Sutton and Raymond Magner of Whitinsville; his beloved puppies, Morgan and Millie. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends. Richard was born in Worcester, son of the late, Richard A. Magner. He lived most of his life in Sutton, graduating from Sutton High School in 1973 after attending Holy Name High School. He also attended Worcester State College. Richard was the senior truck driver and shop steward for Bunzl Corporation, formerly Ziff Paper Company, for over thirty years. He was a member of The Teamsters, Local 170. He was a life-long soccer player and coach; he played soccer from a youth soccer league until most recently with an "over 50" league. Richard enjoyed driving his rig, but also loved the freedom of the open road while riding his Harley Davidson. He was a kind, self-less, and loving man, who will be missed by all who knew him. Calling Hours will be held tonight (Tuesday), September 15, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16 in Saint Columba Church, 18 Richards Avenue, Paxton. Interment at Worcester County Memorial Park will be held privately.
