Dolores L. (Ritoli) Avitabile

Dolores L. (Del) Avitabile, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, (September 2, 2015) at Notre Dame L.T.C., Worcester, with her daughter Dorrie Greeley, granddaughter, Kristin Pechinsky, & her son-in-law, Quentin Greeley at her side. Born in New Britain, CT, she lived most of her married life in New Britain, CT, before moving to Massachusetts. She graduated from New Britain H.S. and attended Hartford School of Fashion where she excelled in dress making and design. Her love of art inspired her to paint beautiful portraits and landscapes. Dolores was married for 60 years to the late Matthew J. Avitabile, Esq., former Mayor of New Britain, CT. She is survived by her daughter, Dorrie Greeley & her husband, Quentin of Shrewsbury, MA and her son, Matthew J. Avitable & his wife Eileen of Richmond, VA. Dolores took delight in her four grandchildren, Kristin & Michael (Greeley) and Matthew & Christine (Avitable) and her eight great grandchildren. Dolores was predeceased by her parents Frank & Angelina Ritoli, her brother John Ritoli, her sisters, Pauline Chiarappa & Mary Marra. A memorial service in her honor, followed by burial in New Britain, CT will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Notre Dame LTC, 559 Plantation Street, or to Notre Dame Hospice, 557 Plantation Street, both of Worcester, MA 01605.
