Patricia G Hayes

January 31, 1940 — August 28, 2015

Patricia G. (Garceau) Hayes, longtime Shrewsbury resident, passed away at home, Friday August 28th 2015 surrounded by the family she loved so much. She was incredibly strong and fiercely battled cancer for the last 5 1/2 years. Patricia was 75 years of age. Patricia was born in Worcester. Her parents were the late George Garceau and Janet "Gensie" (Borbone) Garceau Kingsbury. In 1961 she married her high school sweetheart George F. Hayes Sr. Patricia became an Army wife following her husband and raising her children from Army assignment to assignment for the next 16 years before settling in Shrewsbury in March of 1978 after her husband retired from 22 years in the military. She, George and their children, enjoyed 54 years of marriage in love, devotion and dedication together. Once settled in Shrewsbury, Patricia accepted a position with Elkay Products Company on route 9 as an inspector for many years before retiring in 2005. She also frequently helped to take care of her grandchildren. Patricia is survived by her husband George Sr.; her four devoted children, Tina M. Buono and her husband Paul of West Boylston, George F. Hayes Jr. and his wife Debora of Shrewsbury, Karen A. Amoroso and her husband Luciano "Luke" of Oxford and Patrick A. Hayes; 13 grandchildren she cherished, Kyle, Lisa, Nicholas, Ashley, George, Jonathan, Brandon, Joshua, Megan, Sara, Tyler, Kevin and Bridget. Patricia also leaves her sister, Beverly Sivula of Spencer and brother, William Kingsbury of Florida; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Her beloved sister, Joyce Dube, passed away in 2005. Patricia and her family were members of Saint Anne's Church. All about family, Patricia cherished the moments she spent watching, playing and supporting her children and grandchildren; she loved the holidays, family special occasions, her yard and the hours she spent with love preparing meals and goodies for her family. George, Patricia and their family extensively camped in various locations in the New England area. The moments she spent with her family are those that will be treasured. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, September 1st from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, September 2nd from the funeral home with a procession to St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where her Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St, Boston, MA 02114 of the St Jude Children's Hospital, Danny Thomas Way, Memphis Tennessee.
