John Andrew Maddalena, 72, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015, in UMass Hospital, after a very brief illness. John is survived by his brother, Gary J. Maddalena, with whom he lived. John was born in Worcester, son of the late, John A. and Elizabeth (Schwartz) Maddalena, and has lived here all his life. John graduated from North High School in Worcester and from Worcester Junior College. He had also attended Clark University and served for thirteen years in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. John leaves behind nieces, nephews, and an abundance of dear friends and acquaintances. John worked as a head teller and held various other positions at the former Guarantee Bank in Worcester. John was elected, several times over the years, to serve as either president or treasurer for Arrow Cab Company; and served in each position several time. He and his brother worked for over forty years in the taxi industry before he retired in 2008; they had expanded their family business into a successful fleet of cabs in Worcester, and were affiliated, for many years, with Arrow Cab and later with Yellow Cab Company. He enjoyed reading and studying history.
