Antonio Clemente, 88 a longtime resident of Worcester passed away peacefully on Saturday August 15, 2015 in Rose Monahan Hospice Home with his family by his side. Antonio is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary A. (Rucci) Clemente; his five children, Frances Toscano and her husband Michael of Auburn, Gina Graves and her husband Ronald of Sutton, Lisa Clemente of Worcester, Anthony Clemente and his wife Denise of Auburn and Josephine Macaruso and her husband Joseph of Auburn; a brother, Gaetano Clemente; fifteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Antonio is predeceased by his daughter, AnnMarie Cavalieri, who passed in 2001. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Reverend Pasquale Clemente, Michele Clemente and Natale Clemente; two sisters, Josephine Russo and Priscilla Corso and a great granddaughter, Luciana Milan Macaruso. Antonio was born in Vieste, Foggia, Italy the son of Francesco and Anna Maria (Cariglia) Clemente. He came to United States when he was 27 years old, settling in Worcester; and worked for over 30 years for F.W. Madigan Company. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus and the Laborers International Union Local 243 for many years. Papa, as he was known by his family, was the salt of the earth in which many respected his values in life. He was well known within the neighborhood for his large garden which had many rows of tomato plants. He enjoyed his fig, plum, peach and pear trees that surrounded his yard, not to mention the abundance of marigold flowers and roses that embraced his property. He especially enjoyed sharing his vegetables and fruits amongst family and friends. Family, friends, and others whose lives Antonio touched are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, August 18th from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, August 19th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester where his Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow to St. John Cemetery.
