P. Alfred Calce, 93, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015, The Feast of the Assumption, in The Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, surrounded by loving family. His loving wife Angelina D. (Gulino) Calce, predeceased him in November 2002. Mr. Calce is survived by his children, Dr. John Calce, MD and his wife Suzanne of Naples, Florida, and Patricia A. Calce of West Boylston; three sisters, Rose Morello of Worcester, Josephine Brodeur of West Yarmouth, and Claire Green of Tuscaloosa, AL; five grandchildren, John, Matthew, Paul, Amy, and Christina; eight great grandchildren, Gabriela, Gianna, Jack, Nicholas, Charles, Michael, Luke, and Anna; nieces and nephews. He was born in Shrewsbury, son of the late, John and Clorinda (Pacifico) Calce, and has lived in Worcester all his life. For the past twelve and a half years, Alfred was a resident and "Unofficial Mayor" of the Colony III Retirement Community in Worcester. He was active in maintaining their greenhouse, participating in activities and being the Master of Ceremonies at all events. He will be missed by the wonderful friends he made while living there. He worked as a die maker for over forty years at the John J. Adams Cutting Dies Company, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with his family today, Monday, August 17, at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 4 p.m. Funeral Services and interment at Saint John's Cemetery, will be held privately, the following day.
