Francis J. Riggieri, 82, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Saint Vincent Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Pacillo) Riggieri; and their five children, Celestina Soloperto of Sudbury, Francis Riggieri of Worcester, John Riggieri of Dublin, NH, Maria Riggieri of Worcester, and Sante Riggieri of Worcester; seven grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Albert, Joseph, Anthony, and William Riggieri. Frank, as his family and friends knew him, was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late, Francesco and Mary (Carito) Riggieri. He served honorably in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, from 1949 to 1952, where he was a demolition expert. Frank owned and operated the Miss Worcester Diner for many years, before retiring in 2005. He had previously worked as the new and used car manager at the former Lawless Cadillac-Pontiac in Worcester. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, and the Charles F. Minney VFW Post 3329 in Millbury. He was a caring, charitable man, who liked to "give back" to the community; and in doing so, he prepared and donated numerous lunch and dinner events, including one event for 300 elderly residents in Millbury, several years ago. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 16, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Monday, August 17, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment with Military Honors, will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Worcester.
