Joseph C. DiLeo

October 11, 1922 — July 31, 2015

Joseph C. DiLeo, 92, of Worcester died peacefully Friday July 31, 2015 in the Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. His wife, Lucy R. (Simone) DiLeo died in 2005. Joseph is survived by his loving family; his daughters Dorene M. Calmus wife of the late Glenn Calmus of Framingham, Marlene A. DiLeo of Belchertown, and Andrea M. DiLeo of Worcester. Joseph also leaves his devoted grandson Matthew J. DiLeo and his beloved friend Daniela Gatti, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by three brothers; Louis, Chester, and Maurice DiLeo, and three sisters; Mary Paretti-Leard, Josephine DePalma, and Rose Lamantea. Joseph was born in Worcester son of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Lamantea) DiLeo and lived here all his life. He attended North High School and the Waltham School of Watch Making, which was run by the world famous Waltham Watch Company. He served his country proudly as an Army veteran during WWll and served as a Staff Sgt. on the Ascension Island in the South Atlantic. Joe worked as a Foreman for the former Norton Company in their Tool and Die Division for over 30 years before he retired. He also worked as an independent Watch repairman for many of the local Jewelers. Joseph was a life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann and attended Mass every Sunday. He was a member of the East Side Post #201 American Legion,the East Side Improvement Club,the Biscegliese Club, and the former ITAM Club. He enjoyed watching all New England Sports, loved to Golf and once scored a hole in one at Green Hill golf course. He enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword puzzle, and a good day at the Casino with Lucy. But most of all he loved being with his family. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank his health aide DeeDee Morales and the Staff of the CCU and 2 South at the Memorial Hospital for all their help and compassion shown to Joseph during these last few weeks. It was greatly appreciated. Joseph s funeral will be held Tuesday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4PM to 7PM in the funeral home. Interment with his wife will be in St John's Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Restoration Fund of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann at the above address.
