Irving R. Cormier, 66 of Worcester, passed away unexpectedly in Rapid City, South Dakota on July 27, 2015. Irving is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Carol (Wilcox) Cormier; his son, Joel R. Cormier and his significant other Rebecca of Worcester; his daughter, Judi Cormier-Harrington and her husband Matthew of Spencer; his brother, Paul "Butchy" Cormier of Vermont; two beloved grandchildren, Joseph Cormier of Worcester and Nicki Cormier of San Diego; a step-granddaughter, Audrianna Harrington of Spencer; his companion, Marianne Pomeroy of Worcester, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Edward "Peanut" Cormier, Jr. and a sister, Pearl Roberts. Irving was born in Worcester, a son of the late Edward A. and Leona C. (Soucie) Cormier, Sr. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade and has lived here all his life. Irving worked as a supervisor for National Grid for 40 years, retiring in 2009. He was an avid hunter, a motorcycle enthusiast, a member of the Indian Lake Watershed and loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He also enjoyed running and ran in numerous Boston Marathons receiving many medals. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 4-7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
