Fernando J. Morais, 76, of Northborough, MA a native of Ligares, Portugal, passed away with the family he cherished so much gathered by his bedside, Thursday, July 9th 2015. Fernando was born in Ligares, Portugal on August 28, 1938, one of four children of Joao and Rosa Morais. He grew up, educated and served for a time in the Portugal Military. In 1964, Fernando married Maria J. Martins and began a life together in Love, devotion and family for the next 51 years. In 1978, Fernando and Maria immigrated to the United States with their daughters to Waterbury Connecticut to be closer to family in the United States and form a better life for them. Fernando then accepted a position as a machinist with the Nasco Company and worked there for over the next 25 years before retiring and moving to Northborough, MA to be close to his daughters and grandchildren. Besides his devoted wife Maria, Fernando is survived by his two daughters, Anabela M. Nodoushani her husband Paiman of Northborough, Sandra M. Harrington and her husband Shawn of Sharon, NH. Known as Avo to his grandchildren, William and Grace Harrington, Ariana, Camron and Aaron Nodoushani; Fernando cherished them and spent as much time as possible with them, attending their Soccer games and all activated they were involved in. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members both in the United States and Portugal. Fernando cherished his Portuguese Heritage, passing on as much culture to his family as possible. He loved tending his garden, watching Soccer games, his favorite team being the Portuguese National Ftbol team, and celebrating the Holidays and special events with his family around him. He was a member of St Rose of Lima Church. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, July 13th from 5 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, MA His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 14th in St Rose of Lima Church, 244 West Main St Northborough, MA. Burial will be private.
