Anthony P. Cicio, 95, of Shrewsbury died peacefully Sunday July 5, 2015 in the Shrewsbury Nursing Home surrounded by his loving Family. His Wife Jennie (Pezzella) Cicio died in 2004. Anthony is survived by a son Francis A. (Frank) Cicio of Shrewsbury with whom he lived, two daughters Theresa A. Piltzecker and her husband Robert of Worcester, and Mary Freeburn and her husband John of Northborough. Anthony was the proud grandfather to Robert Jr., Julie, Anthony, Jennifer, Allison and John. And also to his great grandchildren Kaitlyn, Noelle, Matthew, Marishka. Tony leaves many nephews and nieces, and his canine buddy "Chief." Tony is also survived by his sister in law Anne (Pezzella) Carroll. He was predeceased by his brothers; Patrick, Philip, James, and John Cicio, and two sisters Rose Cicio, and Mary Johnson. Anthony was born in Worcester son of the late Frank and Theresa (Sparano) Cicio and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School. Anthony served his country proudly during WW11 in the United States Air Force. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, and the Aluetian Islands.He was a member of the 11th Fighter Control Squadron. Upon returning home Anthony worked for the United Liquor Distributors Company as a shipper. He retired in 1987 after working there for 30 years. Tony was a life member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Ann, and was a long time member of the Local Teamsters Union. He enjoyed watching TV, especially football. He was an avid Patriots fan. Tony was a quiet man that enjoyed being home with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Anthony s family would like to thank the Staffs of the Shrewsbury Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center,and The Jewish Healthcare Hospice Workers, their kindness and compassion is truly appreciated. Anthony s funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation ST. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. visiting hours with the family will be from 4PM to 7PM on Wednesday. Interment with his beloved wife will be held Privately in St John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Renovation Fund of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. Worcester, MA 01604.
