Frederick W. Brown, Jr., 74, of Auburn, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015, in Saint Vincent Hospital. Fred is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Ellen L. (McMahon) Brown; two sons, Patrick P. Brown and his wife Lynn of Harrisville, RI, and Kevin Brown; two daughters, Tara E. Blake of Auburn and Lisa Brown of Worcester; a sister, Lois Butler of New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Justine, Jaden, Cabhan, and Benjamin; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Karen Taft. He was born in Worcester, son of the late, Frederick W. and Christine (Quinn) Brown, and lived here most of his life, before moving to Auburn in 2001. Fred served his nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps. Fred retired in 2002 from the Diocese of Worcester-Saint John's Cemetery, where he worked for twenty-five years as a foreman and equipment operator. He had also tended bar for many years at the Ivy Café in Worcester. He was a member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn; the Touch Down Club at Saint Peter-Marian High School, the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and the Greendale Retired Men's Club. He also enjoyed being the member in charge of BINGO at Worcester Central Catholic. Fred's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family at Seabrook Beach. Fred's family would like to thank the wonderful "angels" at The Meadows in Leicester, for their special care and loving attention paid to Fred and his family. A thanks is also extended to the doctors, nurses, and support staff in the Critical Care Unit at Saint Vincent Hospital, who took great care to bring Fred comfort in his last days. Calling Hours for Fred will be held on Thursday, July 9, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be on Friday, July 10, from the funeral home with a procession to North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive in Auburn, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
