Lucy R. (Lavanga) Bombredi, 91, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday July 1, 2015 in the St Francis Home surrounded by her loving family. Her Husband Pasquale "Patrick" Bombredi died in 1993. Lucy is survived by her three loving daughters, Patricia A. Arena and her husband Antonio of Worcester, Ida P. Dell'Ovo and her husband Ernesto of Del Ray Beach Florida, and Phyllis S. Sama and her husband Dr. Ralph Sama of Shrewsbury. Lucy also leaves her sister Mary Lavanga, a brother in law Nicholas Bombredi and a sister in law Jeanne Bombredi. Lucy was the loving grandmother to Victor, Anthony, Anna, Patrick, Matthew, Lucille, David, Caroline, and Kristen. She was also the proud great grandmother to Victoria, Zachary, Sophia, Isabella, Benjamin, Giovanni, Sophie, Madeleine, Tristan,Chloe,Gianna and Natalia, and also leaves many nephews and nieces. Lucy was predeceased by two brothers, John and Joseph Lavanga, and three sisters,Antoinette Lavanga,Angelina Laganelli,and Catherine Prizio. Lucy was born in Worcester daughter of the late Vito and Filomena ( Auciello)Lavanga and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High school class of 1942. Lucy worked at the former Worcester City Hospital as a Medical Transcriber Stenographer for many years before she retired. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann. She was also a member of the Mount Carmel Golden Years Club. Lucy loved to bake and of course cook for her family. She loved to knit and crochet. However her most treasured times were those spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Lucy's funeral will be held on Friday July 3, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St.Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4PM to 7PM. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery with her husband.
