Manuel Esteves Sr., 82, of West Boylston, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Beaumont Nursing Facility of Worcester. Manny is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Ruth M. (White) Esteves; two daughters, April DuPont of Millbury and Melissa Knaub and her husband Scott of Channahon, IL; five sons, William M. Esteves and his wife Barbara of Charlotte, NC, Manuel Esteves, Jr. and his wife Lauri of Sterling, Rodger M. Esteves and his wife Karen of Shrewsbury, Barry M. Esteves and his wife Melinda of West Boylston, and Gary M. Esteves and his wife Ann of Leominster; fifteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Manny was born in Somerville, son of the late, Alexander and Clotilda (Freitas) Esteves, and was the last surviving of seven children. He grew up in Worcester, later moving to Shrewsbury, before settling in West Boylston in 1966. Manny worked as a Laborer for many years as a member of the Labor Union Local 243; he retired from Amorello & Sons Construction in 1998 having previously worked many years at the former Henley-Lundgren Asphalt Company. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in West Boylston. Manny loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he was especially proud of his beautiful gardens, both flower and vegetable. Calling Hours and Funeral Services will be held on Saturday morning, June 6; with Calling Hours being held from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, followed by a procession to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston, where Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, West Boylston.
