Henry T. "Ziggy" King, 87, of Worcester died peacefully last Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at St. Mary's Healthcare Center in Worcester. His longtime companion, Helen Marie (Champney) Nagle died on January 9, 2015. He leaves his three grandchildren: Erik James, Philip Gregory, and Nicole Diana Raptis; his three nephews: Bartholomew, Norman, and Gregory Riel; along with a multitude of family and friends. He was preceded in death by a number of siblings, his wife Pauline (Roche) King, and his daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) King. A member of St Christopher's church, Mr. King was born on September 19, 1927 in Webster, the son of John and Mary Agnes (White) King. He graduated from at St. Johns High School where he was a top basketball player. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he honorably served his country. In his youth, he worked at Fanny Farmer and then at Worcester Wire Company for many years. Prior to retiring, he delivered for Perro's Flowers and sold fish at the local Stop & Shop. An avid lover of all sports, he enjoyed music, dancing, and bartending given his joyful, festive spirit. Services for Ziggy will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with Calling Hours from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., followed by his Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Following the services, he will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery in Dudley.
