Eleanor E. (Spaziante) Rinaldo, 83 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015 at UMass Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Eleanor was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Sebastiano and Lena (Del Negro) Spaziante. She graduated from Commerce High School and has resided here all her life. She entered the work force after high school as a bookkeeper for Table Talk Pies, Worcester Feed and Thompson Wire. Most recently, Eleanor worked as a case manager for the Welfare Department in Worcester for twenty-two years before her retirement in 1996. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and the Twins Club. Eleanor was an avid reader, loved cooking and Turner Classic movies. Her greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by family and friends especially her grandchildren and her dog Sammy. Eleanor's husband of thirty eight years, John A. Rinaldo a World War II Veteran, passed away in 1990. She sadly leaves behind her son, John S. Rinaldo and his girlfriend Lindsay Peterson of Worcester; three daughters, Diana M. Rinaldo and her fiancée Stacey O'Neil of West Boylston, twins Kristina A. Algieri and her husband Natale of Worcester and Susan H. Stout and her husband Glenn of Rutland; her brother, Charles J. Spaziante and his wife Karen of Holliston; four beloved grandchildren, Emilee and Ryan Algieri and Nolan and Benjamin Stout; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother, Albert Spaziante and her sister, Rose Jordan whom passed away on May 6, 2015; her sister-in-law, Anne Spaziante; a brother-in-law, Charles Jordan. The Rinaldo family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff at UMass Hospital's 3 ICU, the Worcester Fire Department and Police Department and the Paramedics for the outstanding care, compassion and lifesaving efforts they took to help Eleanor. Services for Eleanor will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Parish 24 Mulberry St., Worcester. Burial beside her husband will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, May 18, 2015 from 5-8 pm in the funeral home.
