Claire L. (Bourque) Bennett, 80, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday May 13, 2015 in the Beaumont of Northbridge surrounded by her loving family. Claire is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years William G. Bennett, a son Mark W. Bennett and his wife Debra of Shrewsbury, a daughter Donna L. McAuliffe and her husband James of Sutton, a brother Leonard Bourque. Claire was also the loving grandmother to Greg, Ryan, Kate, Ben, and Jaclyn, and four great grandchildren; Emma, Evan, Quinn, and Graelynn, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Dolores Buffone. Claire was born in Worcester daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Kozminski) Bourque and lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. Claire worked for the Aetna Insurance Company for many years as a Secretary, and also for the Worcester School Department before she retired. Claire was a member of the Church of St. Stephen, and enjoyed going to the Froshinn Club along with Bill where she loved to dance and socialize.She was a skilled knitter and also liked to do crochete. Although her most treasured moments were those spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a kind lady who will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff of the Beaumont of Northbridge, Whitney Place and Salmon Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care that was shown to Claire and her entire family during her time there. It is greatly appreciated. Claire's funeral will be held on Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in the Church of St. Stephen, 357 Grafton St. Calling hours will be held on Friday (tonight) from 4PM to 7PM in the funeral home.
