Joseph P. Moossa, 94, of Matthews NC, formerly of Holden passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 13th 2015 with his devoted wife Mary Louise and family gathered by his bedside. Joe was born in Worcester, one of eight children of parents Anthony P. and Mary (Karam) Moossa. He attended Worcester Public Schools, before joining the U.S. Army during World War II, serving his country proudly in the Pacific theater as a sergeant in the engineers. On April 17, 1948, Joseph married Mary Louise Fellion. This marriage began a life of family love, devotion and dedication for the next 67 years. He and his wife later built their own home on a plot in Holden, where they raised their family until recently moving to North Carolina. Joe was a service technician for several vending machine companies. He also owned several businesses and investment properties in the Worcester area. He is survived by the love of his life, Mary Louise; his two children, the Honorable Judge Robert J. Moossa and his wife Kathleen, with whom they lived, Jo-Ann M. Hurley and her husband Raymond Hurley of Oxford; a brother, George Moossa of Florida, formerly of Shrewsbury, MA, and a sister, Elizabeth Kvalita of Worcester; five grandchildren he loved dearly; Jennifer Tuxbury, Sean Hurley, Shannon Barca, Jonathan and Matthew Moossa; six great grandchildren, Chloe, Declan, Sienna, Paige, Madeline and Jack; also many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Four brothers, Karam, Walter, Arthur and John Moossa as well as a sister, Anna Dowd, all predeceased him. Joe was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church and its Men's Guild. A dedicated family man, there wasn't anything more important to Joe than his family. Holidays, family gatherings, and special occasions when he could be around his family, gave him the most pleasure. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, May 17th from 3 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday, May 18th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street. Burial with military honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June St., Worcester, MA 01602.
