Mary M. (Gentile) Gingras, 85, of Worcester passed away peacefully with family by her side, Tuesday, May 12th 2015, after a brief illness. Mary was born in Worcester, August 14, 1929 one of nine children of Italian immigrants Matteo and Mariangela (DiPasquale) Gentile. She grew up in the Italian section of Worcester, Shrewsbury Street; graduated from Commerce High School, and at the age of 28 in 1957 married the "Love of her Life" Roger P. Gingras. Over the next 47 years they lived in love, dedication and devotion raising their family until Roger passed away in 2004. Mary continued to live here in Worcester. Mary is survived by her three devoted children, Marion A. Galeckas and her husband Bernard of Worcester, Roger P. Gingras Jr. and his fiancée Joyce Anderson of Leicester, Denise Pirani and her fiancée Mark Cowin of Holden; two sisters, Marion Biando of Auburn and Anna Perro of Worcester; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. A great grandchild, two brothers, Michael and Louis Gentile and four sisters, Antoinette DiRoberto, Frances Gerardi, Josephine Gentile and Vincernza Pusateri all pre deceased her. Very dedicated to her family, faith and Italian heritage; Mary was a member and enthusiastic volunteer of the Lifespring Community Church for over forty years. She could cook Italian meals and delicacies without effort, especially the making of cookies and her famous cannoli's. . She loved Gospel music, going out to eat with her family, lunches, coffee and conversation with her friends "the Golden Girls" at Culpepper's. She enjoyed yard sales, taking care of her house where she could fix or repair anything and most importantly the precious times spent with all of her children, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who loved her dearly. She was so dedicated taking care of her father and siblings when they needed her. At one time, Mary worked as an aide for Memorial Hospital. We would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Mark Shrank and his staff at May St. Reliant for taking such wonderful care of her. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday May 14th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral service will be held Friday, May 15th at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Entombment with her husband Roger will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the LifeSpring Community Church, 223 Clover Street Worcester MA 01603.
