Charlotte (Lindblad) Lofstedt, 94, of Shrewsbury, passed away in her home on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, Rodney Lofstedt, predeceased her in December 2012. To say that Charlotte loved her family was an understatement... she was the proverbial doting wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and mother in law. She not only loved her family to pieces, but she was deeply entrenched in her church community at Belmont Street Baptist; where she was a life-long member and volunteered tirelessly on nearly every committee. Her spirit of loving and giving drove her to be active in so many kind ways, such as delivering meals on wheels in her retirement and that allowed her, in her own words, "to meet some awesome people". For the past several years, she called the assisted living residence at Shrewsbury Crossings her home. She gladly settled there and gained so many new friends and participated fully in all of the daily planned activities, in fact, she went to exercise class on Sunday morning, just a few days before her death. She will be remembered as a wonder woman. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles and Judith (Erickson) Lindblad, and grew up in Worcester, before settling in Shrewsbury with her husband to raise their family. She was always active and had things to do, she worked during World War II, for the City of Worcester Probation Department, where she was Secretary to the Chief Probation Officer. She also worked at Norton Company and was a full-time devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and mor mor. She is survived by a son, Barry S. Lofstedt and his wife Sandy of Largo, Florida; a daughter, Sandra G. Erickson and her husband Lee of Holden; five grandchildren, Eric Lofstedt and his wife Vanessa, John Lofstedt and his wife Jocelyn, Janna Lacatell and her husband Marc, Kristofor Erickson and his wife Ingrid Huntley, and Karly Erickson and her companion Josh Blomgren; four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Lindblad and Ruth Gustafson. Services for Charlotte will be held on Saturday, May 16, in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with Calling Hours from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., followed by her Funeral Service at 10 a.m. Following the services, she will be laid to rest beside her dear husband, Rodney in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Charlotte loved the color purple and in honor of her, the family requests that when attending her funeral service, you wear something purple. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to a church, where her nephew is the pastor; Grace Church of East Dennis in care of Rev. David Johnson, P.O. Box 751, East Dennis, MA 02641.
