Louis A. DiPasquale, 97 of Worcester, formerly West Boylston passed away peacefully with family gathered at his side Thursday, April 30th 2015. Lou was born March 21st 1918, in Worcester, a son of the late Anthony and Lucy (Novia) DiPasquale. In 1941, Lou married Ruth Reavey, the women he devoted his love and life to for the next 64 years before she passed away in 2005. In 1942, Lou, left his young wife to join the U.S. Army during World War II, serving his country proudly for the next 5 years before being discharge from the service in 1946. He returned home to begin his career with the former Bee Plastics as a supervisor for 10 years in the Shrewsbury plant. Lou then moved to the Leominster Bee Plastics plant where he worked as Vice President and General Manager for over 18 years before retiring. Lou is survived by three children; Beverly Ragsdale and her husband George of Millbury, Jacqueline Abraham of Atkinson NH, Donald DiPasquale and his wife Linda of Canterbury CT; and a sister, Eva Karbowski of Shrewsbury. He was the proud grandfather of seven and great grandfather of 14. He longed to meet his first great great grandchild to be born in June. Lou also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A son in law, Brian Abraham, two brothers Victor and George DiPasquale and a sister Rachael Beland all pre deceased him. Lou's greatest pleasure was family gatherings where he would hold court, chat and laugh. He was clearly a people person and enjoyed having a microphone at his disposal to share his many witty remarks. He always managed to be at the heart of any social gathering. Lou was well known for his dancing skills and always kept up with the latest moves to the delight of his grandchildren. He was a member of St Anne's Church, the UNICO Club of Worcester, the VFW post 1609 in West Boylston, and the Eastside Improvement Club of Worcester. Lou was also a member and Past President of the Froshinn Club in Shrewsbury and a charter member of the Pope John XXIII Council Knights of Columbus. Lou enjoyed writing catchy poetry and honored each of his great grandchildren with a special poem until he could no longer see clearly enough to continue this wonderful tradition. He loved flowers and gardening; His homes were pristine and eye catching. He loved a good slot machine and traveled many times to Las Vegas and Foxwoods throughout his life. His dynamic personality will be missed by all who knew him. Lou's funeral will be held Monday, May 4th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 11 am in St Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury. Entombment with Military honors will follow in St John's Mausoleum. A period of calling hours will be held from 9 am to 10:30 am in the funeral home prior to leaving for church. The family would like to thank the staff of the Jewish Healthcare Center for the excellent, loving and respectful care they gave to Louis during his more than three year stay with them. He always spoke highly of his caregivers and we saw firsthand how wonderful they were to him.
