Peter "Pete" M. Caruso, 84, of Millbury passed away Friday April 10, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born in Worcester, a son of Italian immigrants Matteo and Priscilla (Tatalo) Caruso. He grew up in Worcester, joined the U.S. Army serving his country proudly during the Korean War. In 1952, he married the love of his life for the next 64 years Doris Miller. Together they settled in Millbury to raise their family and have lived there ever since. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris; a son Peter A. Caruso Sr and his wife Gail; a daughter, Brenda Beaucage and her husband Randy all of Millbury; Five grandchildren, Peter A. Caruso, Jr and his wife Mallory, Timothy Caruso and his wife Bethany, Michael A. Caruso Sr, Stephanie (Beaucage) Donoghue and her husband Dan, Matthew Beaucage and his wife Kristin; Five great-grandchildren, Michael Jr, Finley, Sophia, Isabella and Linnaea; Pete also leaves a sister, Grace Bisceglia; two brothers Frank Caruso and Matteo "Junie" Caruso; two brother-in-laws, Francis "Peanuts" Miller and Robert Miller; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Three brothers, Tony Caruso, Alphonse "Fonzie" Caruso, and George "Chic" Caruso, and a sister Mary Ferraro and three brother-in-laws Harold, Paul and Richard Miller all pre deceased him. Peter worked more than 10 years for the Teamster Local 170, with Lions Distributors before accepting a full time position as a Heat Treater for County Heat & Treating Company of Millbury for over 30 years before retiring. Pete loved spending time with his family playing cards, board games and watching Sci Fi and home movies, tinkering in his tool shed and sitting by the pool. He devoted himself to his wife and grandchildren and was especially grateful to be the godfather to his great niece-Lexus. He was an airplane enthusiast and enjoyed building model airplanes and attended annual airshows with his family. He leaves a legacy of love, honesty and selflessness. Pete was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the teamsters Local 170, and the Eastside Post 201, American Legion. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Tuesday, April 14th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 15th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. where his celebration of life Mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Members of the Eastside Post 201 will meet at 6pm in the funeral home to conduct their ritual. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis Tenn. 38105.
