Eileen M. (Johnson) Genduso, of Worcester passed away peacefully with family gathered by her side, Monday April 6th 2015. She was 87 years of age. Eileen was born in Worcester, the daughter of Matthew and Mary (Lantinen) Johnson. She grew up in Worcester and graduated from Commerce High School. In 1949, Eileen met and then in 1951, married Joseph Genduso Jr, the man she would spend the next 64 years happily married in love, raising their family in the North End of Worcester and working as a Nurse aide caring for mothers and newborn babies in the Maternity Ward of Hahnemann Hospital. A place she worked for over 14 years. Eileen leaves behind, her devoted husband of 64 years, Retired Worcester Police Detective Joseph P. Genduso, Jr.; her five children, Linda Levasseur and her husband Edward of Dudley, Joseph P. Genduso, III and his wife Sandra of Auburn, Tina M. Medenis and her husband Stephen of Palm City Florida, Steven Genduso and his wife Sandi of Worcester, Thomas Genduso and his friend Robert Lee of Millbury; two sisters, Lydia Winzler in New Jersey and Miriam Wignes in Texas; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Two brothers, Richard and Russell Johnson and a sister Virginia Damato all pre deceased her. Eileen was a member of St Christopher Church. Eileen was considered the glue of the family; her dedication to her husband and children surpassed none. The care, compassion, guidance and wisdom she gave her to her family carried them through their lives. Her house and appearance were special areas of her focus. Nothing was out of place. She talked too many of her children daily and looked forward to those conversations. She also enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit with her daughter's family. She enjoyed baking, cooking and maintaining her home. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Thursday, April 9th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Friday, April 10th from the funeral home with a procession to St Christopher's church, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
