Janet Lee (Helie) Lucey, 70 of Worcester passed away surrounded by family Monday, March 23rd 2015. Janet, one of six children of Joseph and Norma (Provost) Helie, was born September 18, 1944 in Worcester. She grew up here, met and married James R. Lucey in 1960. Together they began to raise their family with love, devotion and simplicity over the next 53 years. Janet, was a stay at home mom, many years until she accepted a position with Worcester Academy where she worked over 10 years before moving to Norton Company working there until retiring. Janet is survived by her large devoted and much loved family; her husband James R. Lucey; two children, Deborah M. Ruffo and her husband John in California, and James R. Lucey Jr of Millbury; five grandchildren she adored, Sophia, Angelo and Julianna Ruffo, Austin and Ashlee Lucey; four sisters, Paula B. Gerardi and her husband Donald, Judy A. McCarthy and her husband Roland, Kathleen R. Damato and her husband William and Karen N. McCarthy and her husband Edward; Many nieces and nephews, including Jonathan and Tyler who considered her "Grammie" ; extended family and friends. Besides her parents, a brother Joseph Helie pre deceased her. Janet was a member of St Stephens Church. To Janet family was the biggest part of her life. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her world. The opportunities she had to have them around her were what made her the happiest. These cherished moments will always be remembered. Janet also enjoyed camping, cooking, bingo the beaches of Salisbury and Hampton NH, playing card games with family, especially cribbage. Janet was also a huge Elvis Fan. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Friday, March 27th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Saturday, March 28th from the funeral home with a procession to St Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St where her Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am.
