Phyllis J. Martella, of Worcester passed away peacefully in The Christopher House surrounded by her loving family on March 12, 2015 at the age of 87. Phyllis was born on May 31, 1927 in Worcester, Massachusetts and was preceded in death by her father John Martella, Sr. and her mother Mary (Carrera) Martella. She was a 1950 graduate of Commerce High School. Phyllis worked for Morgan Construction, in Human Resources since 1946, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed the outdoors and staying fit by being active. She was a member of Worcester Fitness Club and a longtime member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - Saint Anne's Church in Worcester. Phyllis volunteered at the Ecotarium in Worcester for many years. Phyllis is survived by her two brothers, Leo J. Martella and John Martella, Jr. both of Worcester and her sister, Nancy Reid of Pennsylvania. She also leaves three nephews and three nieces. Calling hours for Phyllis and her funeral were celebrated privately on March 17, 2015 in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
