Donald J. Davio, Sr., 84, of Worcester, was surrounded by loving family and passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2015, joining his beloved wife, Marion D. (Streeter) Davio, in Heaven. Donald is survived by a son, Donald J. Davio, Jr. of Whitinsville; two daughters, Venise Chiras and her husband Robert of Coral Springs, FL, and Donna Iovanni, with whom he lived; four grandchildren, Robert Chiras, Anthony Chiras, Amberlee Davio, and Haley Davio; three great grandchildren, Bayleigh Chiras, Robert Chiras, Jr., and Aidan Chiras; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister, Chester Davio, Jr., Richard Davio, and Diane Davio. Donald was born in Worcester, son of the late Chester A. and Theresa (Amoroso) Davio, and has lived here all his life. Following his graduation from Commerce High School, he served his nation proudly in the United States Air Force. Donald was a truck driver for Bigelow Nurseries for many years, before retiring in 1991. He had previously worked for over twenty years at the former Worcester Wire Works. He was a member of Saint George Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, the Cathedral Men's Club and was at one time a member of The Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed wood working, painting, spending summers at Kings Camp Ground, traveling, and trips to Florida. Donald and his wife were truly meant for each other and in love, from the moment they met until he joined her in Heaven and now forever. Together, they raised their family with the simple premise of love, devotion, and simplicity. His smile and kindness will be remembered by everyone. Calling Hours for Donald will be held on Monday, March 23, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
