Joan Marie Gamache Desautels, born in Worcester Massachusetts on November 4th, 1938, passed away on Monday March 16, 2015 at the Knollwood Nursing home. She was the daughter of Raoul and Theresa Gamache. She was the former wife of Kenneth R. Desautels who passed away on November 9, 2014. Joan was the mother of 4 children: Bruce Desautels of Nebraska, Kathleen Garson of Worcester Ma, Marlene Desautels of Worcester Ma, and Shane Desautels of Chicago IL. Joan was the sister of Barbara Hamrin of Falmouth Ma who predeceased her. She was also the sister of George Gamache of Bloomington IL. Joan had several nieces and nephews. She looked forward to nephew Michael Hamrin and his wife Deb who would visit from Connecticut with their son. They would often spend the day with her and take her out to lunch. Joan enjoyed gardening. Even after she moved into an apartment she still had lots of plants and fresh flowers throughout her home. The Boston Red Sox was her passion and she never missed a game, although she may have fallen asleep through a few. Some of the things Joan loved to do was going to garage sales, flea markets and shopping for a bargain. Her cat Lexus was her baby and will miss her mommy. Country music was her favorite but she also liked Bon Jovi. She loved to bake at Christmas and mail cookie packages to all her children. We would like to thank the Knollwood Nursing Home, the staff and administration, for the loving care they provided our mother. We were also so happy to have the Jewish Hospice for our mom. The care they provided was wonderful and she enjoyed the music therapy and having her nails done. Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester were honored to have assisted the family with arrangements. Donations in her name may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League.
