Marie (Carofaniello) Kozlowski, of Sturbridge formerly of Worcester passed away peacefully Sunday, March 15th 2015 surrounded by family. Marie one of six children of Italian immigrants Pompilio and Maria (Mobilio) Carofaniello was born in Worcester and grew up in the Italian section off Shrewsbury Street. She graduated from Commerce High School, and married Albert S. Kozlowski in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. They raised their family in Worcester until Marie moved to Sturbridge in 2002 to be closer to her sons and their family. She worked as a Front End Manager and Grocery Clerk for Iandoli's Supermarket then Shaw's both in Worcester for many years before retiring. Marie is survived by her eight devoted children; Michael Kozlowski, Albert Kozlowski and his wife Carol, and Bruce Kozlowski all of Sturbridge, Paul Kozlowski and his wife Carol of West Boylston, Steven Kozlowski and his wife Vangie of West Virginia, John Kozlowski of Nantucket, David Kozlowski and his wife Cathy, Gina Erickson and her husband Peter all of Florida; a brother, Alfred Carofaniello of Wichita Kansas; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her husband and parents, three brothers, Mario, Frank, and Nicholas Carofaniello and a sister, Virginia Caputo all pre deceased her. A mother of Italian heritage, she was considered by her children, "A Mother's Mother". Her life was dedicated to children. The care and wellbeing of her children and grandchildren were her life's inspiration. Marie was young at heart and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a fabulous cook and baker of many Italian dishes, which could satisfy her children and anyone visiting her home. No one who entered her house would ever leave hungry. Her special occasions and traditional holidays in her home with her entire family were the memories that will be treasured. Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Thursday, March 19th from 4pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Friday, March 20th from the funeral home with a procession to Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St where Mass will be held at 10:00 am. Burial next to her husband will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
