Vera (Chaikin) Levina, 93 a resident of Knollwood Nursing center, formerly of Russia passed away with her devoted daughter by her side Friday, March 5th 2015. Vera was born in Gomel, Russia, a daughter of Mikhail and Sophia (Malkiel) Chaikin. She grew up in Russia, and served in the Russian Army during World War II. Upon her discharge from the War, She met and married Israel Levina and lived happily together in Russia raising their family until immigrating to the United States in 1993. Vera worked many years as an administrative assistant in the Moscow Theatre District in Russia before retiring. Her husband Izrail Levin passed away in 1993; She is survived by a daughter, Sophie Pansky and her husband Ari of Worcester; a granddaughter, Jane Giglio and great granddaughter Alexandra; Several nieces, nephews and extended family members both here and in Russia. A brother, Boris and sister Lubov' both pre deceased her. 1 Vera liked to dance, listen to russian music, reading, the theatre, cooking, movies and the outdoors of nature. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 8th at 11:00 am in The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will follow in Bnai, Brith Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial observance will be announced on Sunday.
